For many youth baseball coaches, practices mean players playing catch, batting practice, followed by a round of infield. Players spend a lot of time watching others hit and hoping that a ball comes their way. Author John Blissenbach’s “The Well Prepared Coach – Youth Baseball Practice Plans” has been created to change that.
Written for volunteer youth baseball coaches that have little free time, coaches can now have a complete season’s plan with 25 practice plans in all. Each practice plan was written with the coaching philosophy that practices should be fun, fast moving, loaded with instruction on the fundamentals and use the entire baseball diamond.
In order to accomplish these things, practice plans include stations so that multiple things can go on at the same time, practice time is dedicated to both position-specific as well as team-wide skill development, and practices include fun contests where players can compete with each other on a wide variety of batting and fielding skills. Each individual practice plan includes details for conducting a 10-minute pre-practice meeting and a 90-minute practice.
“”The Well Prepared Coach – Youth Baseball Practice Plans” was written to help coaches save time preparing for the season and provide them with the materials they need for make sure their players are prepared for every game,” according to Blissenbach.
John Blissenbach started as a high school Assistant Varsity/JV head coach working with Varsity Head Coach Hank Mauer, the great uncle of Minnesota Twins All-Star Catcher, Joe Mauer.
