Houston Texan Andre Johnson holds nearly every Texan’s receiving record. In NFL all-time records, he is second in receiving yards per game (80.4 yeards). Suffice it to say, he knows a thing or two about being on the receiving end of things.
Andre Johnson also knows how to give.
As he’s done for the past 7 years, Andre played Santa Claus for a group of at-risk kids from the Houston area. Earning him the nickname, “Andre Claus,” Johnson invited 12 kids from children’s protective services and their families for a 80-second shopping spree at Toys”R”Us. Why 80 seconds? Andre’s number for the Texans is 80. Kids, with assistance from Texans’ cheerleaders, picked out their favorite toys and games. On top of that, Johnson also provided a gaming console and 2 games to each child.
When the kids ran their overflowing carts thru the cash registers, the ll year pro wide receiver footed the $17,352 bill.
“It’s fun for the kids, it’s fun for me,” said Johnson.
It’s clear that Johnson has learned that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Well done Andre.
