Jumbotron dancer energizes Celtics’ crowd

January 24, 2024

When a Jumbotron dancer makes the news, you know it must be something special!

NBA action is fantastic! Earlier this year, Boston Celtics fan Jeremy Fry was caught on the Jumbotron during a delayed in-game action dancing enthusiastically to Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer.” His lip-synching dance routine drove the crowd crazy.

It reminded some viewers of the dance performance in Napoleon Dynamite and the stadium scene from the movie “10 Things I Hate About You.”

Jumbotron dancing excites the crowd.

Fry, a high schooler, apparently made his decision to perform spontaneously. Conveniently, the camera operator was able to capture the entire performance. This occurred during the 2008-2009 season.

The power of the Internet made Fry a legend in a few short days, and the legend continues to grow. Fry enjoyed his newfound fame with a level of humility not often seen in sports. His video has been watched a gazillion times, including over 5 million times in just one week. This increased streaming of the Bon Jovi song helped it reach the top of the charts.

Recently, we’ve seen a teenager mortified as his mother danced beside him at a game. But, that lacked the energy and feel-good nature of Fry’s performance.

Is this the future “American Idol”? Will new performers be hatched at the incubator cube of being televised at sporting events? Who knows? But it was sure a fun performance to watch.

Best Fan Performance Ever?

Some consider it the best fan performance of all time, but we’ll let you be the judge. Check out the reactions to his dancing and performance. You must give him credit for using the props and people near him to add to the mix.

One has to think that Jeremy Fry would win a lip-synch contest against just about anyone. Perhaps the Celtics should’ve hired him full-time.
