Christian McCaffrey Football Background
McCaffrey played high school football at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. As a versatile, multi-position player, he broke several Colorado high school career records. His records include total touchdowns (141), all-purpose yards (8,845), touchdown receptions (47), and single-season all-purpose yards (3,032).
After high school, he was honored as a 2014 U.S. Army All-American and attended Stanford University. His successful collegiate football career brought many honors: Heisman Finalist and AP Player of the Year in his sophomore season, two-time All-American, and two-time All-Pac 12 honoree. McCaffrey and his Stanford teammates capped off his final year with the team by beating the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2016 Rose Bowl.
McCaffrey is a Stanford grad.
His rookie debut in 2017 featured 435 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, 80 receptions, 651 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns. He’s a force to be reckoned with on the football field.
In 2020, McCaffrey signed a $64 million contract extension. In 2019, he was the only NFL back to run for 1,000 yards plus and hit the thousand-yard receiving mark. He was only the third player in the history of the NFL to accomplish this feat. Impressive! Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk are the other two running backs that can state this accomplishment.
The 2020 season was a disappointment for him as he suffered an early injury in game two. Upon his return for the 9th game, he injured his shoulder.
McCaffrey was acquired by the 49ers in October 2022 in exchange for the 49ers’ second, third, and fourth-round draft picks in 2023 and an additional fifth-round pick in 2024.
