Here are the newest members of the Fantasy Football Team Names Hall of Fame.
Traditional Fantasy Football Names – Eight Inductees
In recognition of their humor and consistent contributions to fantasy football leagues around the world, we recognize the following fantasy football names.
Cry Me A Rivers
The popular 1950s Julie London song, “Cry Me A River,” pays tribute to NFL standout, Phillip Rivers. What makes this name work particularly well is that Rivers, best known for his QB work for the Chargers, built a reputation for whining and complaining throughout many a game.
Teenage Newton Ninja Turtles
Let’s face it, Cam Newton was a pretty big deal in fantasy football circles. A prolific scorer, he could carry a fantasy team with his TD runs and touchdown passes.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were a phenomenon with legs, so this was a match made in heaven. No word on whether or not Cam loves pizza as much as Donatello, Leonardo, Michaelangelo, and Raphael.

Fourth and Lynch’s
Marshawn Lynch, nicknamed “Beast Mode,” was the type of running back you could trust to pick up the hard yards. Fourth and inches? No problem. Give it to Beast Mode. Oh, if only Pete Carroll had as much faith in him as fantasy football team owners — Super Bowl XLIX would likely have had a different outcome.

You Kaepernick the Future
A fitting name for Colin Kaepernick? Kaepernick’s civil rights protests – highlighted by his taking a knee during the national anthem at games – led the 49ers QB down a completely different path. Still a free agent, NFL owners have some explaining to do.
Insane Clowney Posse
#1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney is a defensive impact player. His last name paired nicely with the name of an American hip hop duo, Insane Clown Posse. The rest, as they say, is history.
Odell, Motel, Holiday Inn
The name Odell Beckham Jr. lends itself well to many a fantasy name, e.g. “Catch it like Beckham.” But, the winner (and inductee) pays reference to the song “Rapper’s Delight” by The Sugarhill Gang.
“Rappers Delight” is widely recognized as the song that popularized rap as a genre in the U.S. The real lyrics are “Everybody go hotel, motel, Holiday Inn.”

De More Demaryius
We’ve all heard the popular phrase, “the more, the merrier.” Well, this is a play on words regarding that phrase and Demaryius Thomas, the star Denver Broncos wide receiver.
Thomas was an NFL star for 10 years scoring 63 touchdowns. Sadly, Demaryius Thomas passed away on December 9, 2021, due to complications from seizures.
Hot Chubb Time Machine
In its first year of eligibility, “Hot Chubb Time Machine,” a mix between the movie “Hot Tub Time Machine,” and Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb gets the call for the Hall. The Hall voters found the name fresh, clever, and funny. So, more like the original movie, and less like the sequel.
Senior Committee Inductees
The senior committee recognizes fantasy team names from earlier eras.
Every Kiss Begins With Clay
Clay Matthews was a star linebacker for the Green Bay Packers. Kay Jewelers’ long-standing slogan is “Every Kiss Begins With Kay.” Well, it was a match made in heaven for fantasy owners who were Packer fans or who drafted Green Bay for their defense.
Charles in Charge
Jamaal Charles was a four-time Pro Bowler with the Kansas City Chiefs at running back. He led the league in rushing touchdowns in 2013.
In 1984, the sitcom “Charles in Charge” began its five-season run. Scott Baio played the title role. But, if you had Jamaal Charles on your fantasy team, you knew who the true star was.
Fantasy Football League Names: 2 Inductees
Every fantasy football league needs a good name to set it apart. Here, we recognize two of the best.
Touchdownalotamus
Snuffleupagus is a muppet from Sesame Street. If you combine that with the main scoring mechanism of football – a touchdown – you get Touchdownalotamus. The name speaks to a high-scoring league that is not afraid to show its inner kid(s).

Mel Kiper’s Best Available
Any football fan who has watched an NFL draft knows that Mel Kiper Jr. is the premiere NFL draft specialist. He’s been appearing on ESPN’s coverage of the NFL draft for some 38 years. His “Best Available” are the players left on the board to be drafted that Mel thinks should be selected soon.
