Names of Famous Chickens
There are quite a few chickens that have been featured in movies and TV shows. Famous people raised other well-known chickens. Here’s a list of a few.
The Friends Chicken – One of the most popular TV Shows of all time, Friends, featured an episode with a Chicken. Joey and Chandler rescued the chicken from being euthanized. They named the White Japanese Bantam chicken Yasmine in honor of the actress Yasmine Bleeth.
Baron Spreckle – Naturalist and late president Theodore Roosevelt had a chicken named Baron Spreckle. The good Baron was just one of several chickens and other animals that President Roosevelt kept at the White House. He even had a one-legged Rooster.
Cornelius Rooster – since 1894, Cornelius Rooster has been the “spokes chicken” for Kellogg’s corn flakes. Corn flakes were created by John Harvey Kellogg and were said to promote good health. The green mascot was voiced in commercials by legendary character actor Andy Devine.
Foghorn Leghorn – He was a star of Merrie Melodies and Looney Tune cartoons. Foghorn Leghorn was featured in 29 cartoons from 1946 to 1964. He was the object of affection of Miss Prissy and considered prey by young Henry Hawk. He is an Italian breed of chicken called a Leghorn.

- Ginger – Ginger was a Welsummer breed chicken from the Pixar movie “Chicken Run.” The orange-colored chicken was a favorite with moviegoers. Not only was she featured in the original film, but she also starred in the sequel eighteen years later.
- Heihei – Heihei is a wild chicken and one of the stars of the film “Moana.” The inspiration for the character comes from the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. Feral chickens are common on Kauai and are attributed to hurricanes and other natural disasters freeing domesticated chickens; Heihei is Hawaiian for ‘disturbance.”
- Oscar – Oscar was the name of a chicken owned and raised by Salvador Dali. The famous surrealist painter liked having his chicken hanging around his studio. The chicken gave him inspiration for some of his paintings. In addition, the chicken would often sit on his shoulder while Dali painted.
- Camilla – Camilla was a popular chicken character and one of the Muppets. She was in several episodes of The Muppet Show and became the object of affection of the character Gonzo. She also starred in The Muppet Movie and in The Muppets Take Manhattan.
